There are alot of tree stumps around lately, in the hedgerows and the woods and in peoples gardens. Alot of Ash trees have been cut down even though the trees offer an abundant habitat for small wild creatures and in most cases are doing no harm. Trees are able to sprout new growth from the stumps and Ash trees can also do this even though they’ve been cut down because of Ash dieback. I’ve heard recently that the Ash tree is fighting back and naturally evolving resistance to the fungus causing the disease.
